Move your body. Change a life.

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live”

I love this quote by Jim Rohn. It’s so true. We have one body in this life and we have to care for it well. We see the studies from scientists and we hear from our doctors how we need to be exercising and eating right. But sometimes it can be hard to get moving.

At My Refuge House we know and care deeply about the need to care for the whole body. Our treatment is focused on holistic care for each and every girl. That includes exercise, healthy movement like dancing and yoga, and counseling. The treatment they receive is intended to enable our girls to stand on their own again educationally, spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally.

In order to encourage us to care for our whole bodies and help My Refuge House care for our girls, we’re excited to announce our Movement for Freedom campaign. This is a month of movement dedicated to our girls at My Refuge House and the commitment to end human trafficking. By moving your body you are changing a life. When you run, cycle, or dance you can help bring awareness and funds to the issue of human trafficking.

We have two simple things to do as part of Movement for Freedom:

  1. Share on social media and with your friends. Use the hashtags #movementforfreedom #myrefugehouse and #endhumantrafficking when doing your workouts.

  2. Ask for support! For every workout, race, or event you do in the month of May ask supporters to donate Here For example, my husband Barry has a goal of raising a $1000 during Movement for Freedom. He is asking people to donate $1 for every minute he exercises. That's 33 minutes a day for the month.

Movement for Freedom is an opportunity to do what you love, get healthy, and do good all at the same time. Consider asking friends and family to join you!

All you need to do is choose a type of exercise, get supporters, and get moving!

Here’s to Restoring One Life At A Time.
